Messiah’s Return – The Clouds of Heaven

Messiah’s Return – The Clouds of Heaven

Daniel is given a vision by God where he sees  four beasts coming out of thechurning sea one after the other. This horrifying and disturbing  picture depicts evil and earthly godless rule but then Daniel looks up and sees ‘The Ancient of Days’ seated on his throne.

While the world may seem in turmoil God is in control.

The beasts are destroyed and then ‘one like a son of man’ comes on the clouds. A man but more than a man, he is able to enter into the presence of God. He is given all authority and his rule will be over a universal and everlasting kingdom. Fast forward to the gospels and Jesus uses this title to describe himself and the book of Revelation speaks of this ‘son of man’ as the risen Jesus who will come in judgment.

13 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
