Get The Word Out Cornerstone Fundraiser – 2017

Get The Word Out Cornerstone Fundraiser – 2017

Cornerstone’s annual ‘Get The Word Out’ Bible Society fundraiser is coming up soon!

Get The Word Out is a Bible Society Project that seeks to raise funds for their work in a particular country; mainly for giving out free bibles and funding other ministry outreach programs.

Given this is the 200th anniversary of the Bible Society in Australia, this year the target country is AUSTRALIA!

Some of the main areas where funding will be going this year is Bibles for: Public School Scripture, for Chaplains in their various areas of work, and then a translation for the indigenous community in their own language.

For further specific details about the GTWO project and what the money will be going towards, head over to the Bible Society’s website.

Cornerstone will be holding a Fundraiser on the 10th of September.

This year as a way to raise money we’ll be taking inspiration from 2 great Australian races: the ‘Sydney to Hobart’ and the ‘Bathurst 1000’ – becoming the ‘Bathurst to Hobart Race’!

Similar to last year, we will have a lapped race, where the children will get sponsored an amount for each lap they complete. This year the course will be an obstacle course of sorts.

Given the inspiration and name of the race – and in a cross between a push cart derby and a ‘red bull flugtag’ – the children will need to adorn themselves to look like either a V8 supercar or a racing yacht, as they race around the ‘Bathurst to Hobart’ race track!

They’ll be prizes for the best ‘dressed’ and the most creative.

We’ll also have some food during morning tea for sale for a donation towards the project.

For further information, a flyer about the event or the fundraising sheets contact Tim Sillar or come chat to him on Sunday.
